Liberty Double Eagles
1891-S $20 MS64 PCGS. The 1891-S Liberty double eagle was produced in large numbers (over 1,2 million pieces struck), but the issue circulated heavily in both domestic and foreign trade, and few high-quality examples were saved by contemporary collectors. As a result, the issue is scarce in MS64 condition, and finer examples are virtually unobtainable. This sharply detailed Choice specimen offers lustrous orange-gold surfaces that show only minor signs of contact. PCGS has graded one numerically finer example (10/17).
