Liberty Double Eagles
1892-CC $20 AU55 NGC. Variety 1-A. Mintmark collecting was still in its infancy when these double eagles were issued by the Carson City Mint in 1892. Perhaps some pieces were set aside for numismatic purposes around that time, but virtually all known survivors are the result of repatriations from overseas vaults or happenstance. Blended khaki and reddish-gold coloration graces well-preserved, original surfaces with minimal friction. Minor abrasions are evenly scattered over each side.
