Three Cent Silver
1871 3CS MS64 PCGS. This 1871 three cent silver was one of the fortunate circulation strikes to escape the melting pot in 1873. Just 3,400 pieces were struck -- a small mintage, and survivors are often somewhat prooflike such as the present coin. Die polish lines are visible in the fields along with some wispy, light abrasions across the silver-gray surfaces of this near-Gem example. The strike is reasonably strong except at the bow and arrow fletchings, which are less-sharp. Population: 25 in 64 (1 in 64+), 62 finer (10/17).
