Buffalo Nickels
1913-S 5C Type Two MS65 PCGS. Scarcer than the Type One design by a considerable margin and among the lowest mintages of the series at just 1.2 million pieces struck, the 1913-S Type Two nickel is a series semikey. The San Francisco Mint struggled with quality when striking the Type Two design, with weakness of the peripheral elements and die clashing. This Gem example offers terrific eye appeal with iridescent toning and sharply struck central elements. The strike is less sharp at the obverse border where LIBERTY is blurry and the bottom-most portion of the first 1 in the date is soft.
