1939 5C Reverse of 1938 PR68 ★ NGC. CAC. The original hub for Jefferson nickels in 1938 exhibited wavy or uneven steps to the porch of Monticello, as seen on this Superb Gem proof. A new hub was created in 1939, exhibiting precisely defined porch steps. However, some dies remained from the old hub. This impressive piece is brilliant with light gray surfaces, deeply mirrored fields, and sharply detailed devices, exhibiting slight cameo contrast on the obverse.
