Seated Dimes
1837 10C No Stars, Small Date, F-104, R.3, MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Unlike the 1837 No Stars half dime, the Small and Large Date logotypes for the dime are easily distinguished by their size alone. In addition, the Small Date 3 has a curved top and the Large Date 3 is flat across the top. This well-struck near-Gem displays light caramel-gold toning over frostlike silver-gray surfaces. Smooth surfaces show minor contact near the O in OF and a subtle reverse spot at 3 o'clock, plus a small deep toning area near Liberty's left (facing) elbow. Die clashing near the E in DIME and slight counterclockwise rotation of the reverse help confirm the Fortin variety. Population (all Small Date varieties): 18 in 64 (1 in 64+), 12 finer. CAC: 4 in 64, 9 finer (10/17).
