Seated Dimes
1877-S 10C F-109, R.4, MS65 PCGS. The Fortin-109 variety is primarily attributed by the position of the date, its downslope, and by the Block S mintmark slightly high and to the right. There are no die cracks or other diagnostic anomalies for the variety. This frosted and lustrous example is sharply struck throughout. A band of gunmetal-blue and russet-brown toning occupies the left obverse margin, while those shades are more pervasive on the reverse. The coin is virtually free of any marks or abrasions. Population (all 1877-S varieties): 9 in 65, 7 finer (10/17).
