Proof Seated Quarters
1865 25C PR65 PCGS. Both sides of this Gem proof exhibit dappled gold and iridescent toning, with splashes of cobalt-blue on the reverse. A mere 500 proofs were coined in 1865, the final year of issue for the No Motto design in the Seated Liberty quarter series. Obvious cameo contrast is clearly evident, although masked by the original toning that does not permit a Cameo designation. Population: 8 in 65, 31 finer, including Cameo and Deep Cameo examples (10/17).
