Early Half Dollars
1806/5 50C O-102, T-7, High R.3, AU53 NGC. The top of the underdigit 5 is visible near the top of the 6. The stars are large, and star 12 is recut with a broken tip near the highest point of star 13. The 0 in the date shows recutting. The reverse has a bold die line running right from the shield border. The lowest purported berry of the six, "without a stem," is unseen on this piece due to die clashing. AME are all joined solidly at their bases. Ample luster is visible in the recesses of this AU53 specimen, and light tan patina concentrates at the margins. The design elements are well-defined, and a few minor obverse circulation marks do not distract. A nice, problem-free Draped Bust half.
