Bust Half Dollars
1811 50C Large 8, O-104a, R.1, AU55 PCGS. CAC. Three major die cracks define the late die stage Overton-104a, the most dramatic of which nearly completely encircles the portrait from below the bust tip to the outer hair, through the right field, across the cap, to the edge above star 7. A radial crack through star 2 terminates in the left field, and yet another curved crack travels through stars 2 to 5 and ends at the forecurl. Cracked die or not, this Choice AU example is extremely sharp with barely any wear on the curls, cap, or drapery folds. Lovely pearl-gray surfaces are largely mark-free and attractive.
