Barber Half Dollars
1909 50C MS65 PCGS. This frosted, lightly toned Gem example of the conditionally scarce 1909 Philadelphia half is attractive and well-made. More than 2.3 million pieces were stuck, yet few of the coins reach the MS65 level and finer coins are very scarce. Splashes of deep lavender-gray toning accent the pearlescent-silver, subtly iridescent hues that cover most of the coin. The sharp strike makes us wonder why more of these simply do not exist. Population: 62 in 65, 15 finer (10/17).
