Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles
1909-D $20 MS62 PCGS. With a total production of only 52,500 coins, the 1909-D had the lowest double eagle mintage of the year, and the fourth lowest mintage of the Saint-Gaudens series. This issue is rarely encountered in any grade with at total PCGS population of only 774 coins (11/17), an impressively small quantity given the more than 980,000 Saint-Gaudens double eagles that service has examined. Only 14 issues have a lower total population at PCGS. Only a few small marks appear on the satin surfaces of this attractive yellow double eagle.
