SASANIAN KINGS. Pērōz (Fīrūz) I. AD 457/9-484. Æ Unit (19mm, 2.22 g, 3h). Uncertain mint. Undated issue, but struck circa 458-465. Bust right, wearing mural crown [with frontal crescent], korymbos set on crescent; to right, crescent above three pellets with lowest pellet set in crescent / Fire altar; flanked by two attendants. SNS type IIa/1g and cf. pl. 83, 79 (for different symbol); Sunrise –; CNG E-381, lot 280 var. (symbol); Zeno –. VF, brown patina, light roughness. An unpublished variety of an extremely rare type.
