Claudius II Gothicus. AD 268-270. Antoninianus (20mm, 4.65 g, 12h). Antioch mint, 6th officina. 1st emission, circa late AD 268-late AD 269. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / CONSER AVG, Minerva standing right, holding spear and shield; –/–//ς. Normanby –; RIC V –; RIC Online 1027 note (this coin cited). VF, earthen brown patina. Extremely rare, possibly unique, with this engraver's error.

From the Finn Johannessen Collection, purchased from Zurqieh, 26 November 2010.

An interesting engraver's error. The reverse legend should read "VIRTVS AVG." The "CONSER AVG" legend was used for coins with either Serapis alone (RIC Online 1021 and 1054) or with Serapis and Isis (RIC Online 1079-81).
