RAJKOT: Dharmendra Singhji, 1930-1948, LOT of two examples of the silver "mohur", both Brilliant Uncirculated with iridescent toning; retail value $250, lot of 2 pieces, ex Paul Stevens Collection. There are two different strikes for this piece. Variety 1: tiny circles at the top of the left & right trident, delicate Gujarati legend, "4" of date 1245 is level // the top ray is straight and points slightly right of T of RAJKOT. Variety 2: larger circle in the trident, thick Gujarati legend, "4" points downward to the left // top ray slightly crooked and points left of T of RAJKOT. Variety 2 is considered a restrike, but it may simply be a second strike, from a new pair of dies, for the local authorities. The same probably applies to the gold.
Estimate: 150-200 USD
