QARAKHANID: Mansur b. Ahmad, 992-999, AR dirham (3.47g), al-Shash, AH382, A-U3429, citing Shihab al-Dawla Musa as overlord, clear mint & date, unpublished and believed to be unique, Fine to VF, RRR. Until the discovery of this piece, no Qarakhanid coin of al-Shash in any metal was known dated prior to AH388. This coin shows that al-Shash passed from Samanid to Qarakhanid rule between 381 and 382. There is no known coinage of al-Shash dated between 383 and 387.
