GREAT MONGOLS: Anonymous, AR dirham (2.02g), Badakhshan, ND/DM, A-3779N, qa'an / al-'adil / sikka in obverse center, date formula in margin (actual date off flan) // kalima in center, mint name in margin in the legend including the local govenor, dawlatshah bin 'ali shah badakh(shan) plus a couple more uncertain words off flan, crinkled, VF, RRR. It seems possibly that the cited Dawlatshah b. Ali is the same shah who issued coins dated AH690-693, but the overall style is totally different, and presumably much earlier, suggesting that Dawlatshah may have ruled for quite a long time, or that there were two different rulers in Badakhshan each with the name Dawlatshah, one several decades earlier than the other. Two specimens sold in Stephen Album Auiction 29, lots 405 and 406, for $650 and $600, respectively.
Estimate: 200-250 USD
