Numidian Kingdom. Gulussa or Gauda. 148-? or 105-? B.C. Æ unit (26 mm, 10.86 g, 12 h). Laureate head of king left / Horse galloping left; below, Punic 'GN'. MAA 14; Mazard 37; SNG Copenhagen -. Very rare. Dark brown and green patina. Nearly very fine.

When inscribed, the bronze coins of this general type usually have the Punic letters MN below the horse, signifying that they are issues of either Massinissa or Micipsa, kings whose reigns date to 203-148 or 148-118 B.C. respectively. Those with GN are considerable more scarce, and are issues of either Gulussa or Gauda. In searching the online database of sold coins at acsearch.info we found no coins identified as Gulussa or Gauda having been offered for sale in the past decade or so.

Estimate: $150
