Documented Order "For Service to Motherland in the Armed Forces of the USSR" 3rd Class. Award # 18366. Awarded to Hero of the Soviet Union Colonel Komarov S.P. by decree of April 20, 1975. Comes with Order's Book, where this is the only decoration listed. Also accompanied by printout of full biography (contains nice photo), and citations to some of his awards. Komarov Sergei Petrovich (1922-1996) was a typical Red Army career officer. Born in 1922 in the obscure village Tokarevo, he was drafted in 1940. He graduated from the famous Bataisk Air school in 1941, just to following up with Konotop military air technical college, which he completed in 1943. After that, he actively participated in fighting against Nazi Germany on several fronts, where he served as a reconnaissance pilot of the 16th Air Regiment, 16th Air Army, 1st Belorussian front. Bestowed title of Hero of the Soviet Union in 1946, for actions during WWII. After school, he continued his military career, ultimately graduating from Military Academy in the rank of colonel. Retired in 1975.
