THRACIAN KINGDOM. Lysimachus (305-281 BC). AV stater (19mm, 8.44 gm, 12h). NGC MS 5/5 - 3/5, Fine Style. Posthumous issue of Bithynia, Calchedon, ca. 250-240 BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great right, wearing horn of Ammon / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΚoΥ, Athena seated left, holding Nike and sitting on shield decorated with lion's head; ΣΙ to inner left. Marinescu 1996, --; cf. issue 4, pl. 54, O7/R5 (same obverse die?). Müller -. Thompson -, apparently unpublished with these controls. A lovely specimen, well struck and possessing considerable obverse luster. Note: NGC certifies this as a coin of Bithynia, Calchedon.
