THRACIAN KINGDOM. Lysimachus (305-281 BC). AV stater (21mm, 8.30 gm, 1h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 3/5, edge marks. Late posthumous issue of Byzantium, ca. 150-120 BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great right, wearing Horn of Ammon / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΞΟΥ, Athena seated left, left arm resting on shield, holding Nike in right hand, who crowns royal name with wreath, angled spear behind; monogram in inner left field, large animal leg and BY on side of throne, filleted trident in exergue. HGC 3.2, 1383. C. Marinescu 1996, issue 154, no. 552. Apparently a rare variety, with only two known examples listed by C. Marinescu. Struck on a broad flan, small reverse peck mark at outer left edge.
