Newfoundland. Victoria gold 2 Dollars 1882-H MS64 PCGS, Heaton mint, KM5, Fr-1. Featuring exceedingly pleasing surfaces, this exquisite near-gem is highly lustrous and displays an appealing golden-orange tone. A similar example from the Schroeder Collection, also a PCGS MS64, realized a hammer of $5,500 in our 2017 CCE auction (sale 3054, lot 30523). In the opinion of this cataloger, the present example is that much nicer, and should elicit spirited bidding and attention.
