Louis XI (1461-1483) gold 1/2 Ecu d'or au soleil ND VF - Flan Crack, Rouen mint, 1.23g, Fr-315, Dup-546. (crown) LVDOVICVS 8 DЄI 8 GRA FRAnCOR 8 RЄX 8, crowned arms of France, a sun above and a point beneath the 15th letter / (crown) XPS 8 VInCIT 8 RGnAT 8 ЄT 8 IMPЄRAT, cross fleurdelisée, a point beneath the 15th letter. Of great rarity, this fractional Ecu demands the attention of a specialist. A flan crack is noted running from about one o'clock into the center of the piece and there is moderate circulation wear, but any examples of this type are quite rarely seen at auction and we advise connoisseurs of French hammered gold not to let this opportunity pass them by.
