German States
Bavaria. Maximilian IV Joseph Taler 1805 MS64+ NGC, KM676, Dav-547. Visually outstanding, with sublime tone across both sides that indicates long-time cabinet storage, and sharply rendered detail noted throughout the designs, save for those areas mildly afflicted by adjustments. Upon closer inspection, the silk-textured fields are without any distractions, while auburn and graphite color have gathered around the raised elements, creating a chiaroscuro effect. As a type, this two-year issue featuring the Pflaz and Bavarian shield remains rather elusive, and population reports further confirm that this is the only Mint State example certified to date.
