George I gold Guinea 1726 AU58 NGC, Royal mint, KM559.1, Fr-327, S-3633. Fifth bust. A short yet popular series, the George I guineas are endlessly appealing, and this example is no different. A sharp strike on good metal highlight this piece, along with a good deal of luster remaining as well as an enchanting orange peel tone near the peripheries. Compare to a similar piece, an NGC AU55, which realized a hammer of $3,400 in our 2016 NYINC auction (sale 3044, lot 29643).
