George II 1/2 Penny 1749 MS64 Red and Brown NGC, Royal mint, KM579.2, S-3719. A stunningly attractive near-gem, exhibiting an underlying brilliance and charming luster, along with magenta quality to the surfaces. Only two have been graded finer by NGC, one brown and one red-brown. Clearly, a far superior piece (in terms of both color and appeal) than the PCGS MS64 Brown which realized a hammer of $1,600 in our 2017 Long Beach auction (sale 3057, lot 30976).
