Philip V Klippe Cob 8 Reales 1733 Mo-MF MS61 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM48. Despite being struck on the smaller flan of the earlier cob issues, extremely rare quality and presentation for this klippe type, with the date and assayer's initials receiving optimum focus over the visible design. Likely a shipwreck recovery, this piece actually shows little evidence thereof, and soft luster is retained over both sides. As a transitional issue for the milled coinage that the Mexico City Mint was concurrently perfecting, a key type for the dedicated Mexican specialist, and as the only Mint State certified example at either NGC or PCGS, a coin that is sure to attract spirted bidding until the hammer falls.
