French Overseas Department aluminum Mule 2 Francs 1948 SP66 PCGS, KM-unl, Lec-unl. Featuring the obverse legend generally used with the coinage of French Equatorial Africa and the standard Reunion reverse design, this unusual mule is incredibly rare. Some of the corresponding 1 Franc mules have been offered, but the 2 Francs is far more difficult to encounter. Exceedingly lustrous, this gem is unendingly brilliant and interesting. Compare to the sole other example which could be located, a PCGS SP65 which realized a hammer of ChF 9,000 in a December 2014 Maison Palombo sale.
