Nicholas II silver Pattern Rouble 1897 VF25 NGC, Brussels mint, KM-unl, Bit-207 (R3). Bird & Star on edge. An incredibly rare pattern issue struck at the Brussels mint, signified by the combination of characters on the edge. The piece, despite its pattern status, apparently saw a good deal of circulation, as there is honest wear throughout, with some darker spots on the back of the czar's neck. A few minor rim nicks on the reverse are also noted for completeness. A true rarity which is almost never encountered.
Note: While recorded as a Pattern in Bitkin's work, NGC deems this type a variety for the year, and has chosen not to label it a "Pattern" on the insert.
