Sveriges Riksbank gold Nominating Committee Participant Medal 1970 MS68 NGC, 26mm/20.57g. Edge: (top) 1970, (bottom) five hallmarks. An essentially pristine representative of this highly stylized issue, struck in sculpted fashion with significant contour visible over Alfred Noble's bust, the underlying crossing cornucopias as well as in the surrounding fields. On the reverse, a radiant star exists in the center with an overlying artistic display of the crowned coat of arms of Sweden, showing no containing border. As a type, very seldom seen and a near-miracle to see two examples with the same date of issue (see next lot) in the same auction.
The winner of the 1970 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics was Paul Anthony Samuelson, who was the first American to win this prize for the Economic Sciences.
