Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, the bowl embossed with leaping griffin / AΓAΘOKΛEOΣ BAΣIΛEOΣ above and below winged thunderbolt, T below. HGC 2, 1535. Gulbenkian 339 (this coin). BAR issue 29. Cf. SNG ANS 702 (different reverse symbol). A stunning example of this scarce issue, struck from dies of exquisite style with only a few faint surface marks keeping it from sheer perfection.
