Head of Athena right, hair arranged in five parallel corkscrew curls down neck, wearing single pendant earring, necklace, and triple-crested Corinthian helmet, pushed back on head, the bowl decorated with coiled serpent / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Nike standing left, holding wreath in extended right hand and stylis in left arm, rudder in left field. Price 3149. An absolutely stunning specimen, deeply struck from dies of graceful style, the surfaces displaying full, brilliant luster. Of the over 900 Alexander the Great staters graded by NGC, this is one of just 5 that have reached the coveted Gem Mint State grade level.
