PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Arsinöe II Philadelphus (died 270/268 BC). AV mnaieion or octodrachm (29mm, 27.71 gm, 12h). NGC AU 5/5 - 2/5, Fine Style, marks. Alexandria, under Ptolemy II, ca. 253/2 BC. Veiled head of the deified Arsinöe right, wearing stephane; lotus-tipped scepter behind, Θ to left / APΣINOHΣ ΦIΛAΔEΛΦOY, double cornucopia, grape bunches hanging at sides, bound with fillet. Svoronos 460. Troxell, Arsinoe, Transitional to Group 3, p. 43 and pl. 6, 2-3 (same obverse die). SNG Copenhagen 134. Dig on the side of the queen's neck and on back of veil, otherwise an attractive piece struck from dies of fine style.
