Franz Joseph I gold Proof 100 Corona 1908 PR63 Cameo NGC, Kremnitz mint, KM2812, Fr-514. Commemorating his 60th Year of Reign. This exceptionally popular and artistically pleasing "Lady in the Clouds" issue always delights, and is arguably one of the most attractive reverse designs from the 20th century. This particular example features a brilliant cameo nature as well as frosted devices, though exhibits some friction marks commonly encountered with the type. An enchanting golden-orange tone has developed wonderfully throughout the surfaces, and imparts a captivating, choice appeal to this specimen. A similar piece, also an NGC PR63 Cameo, realized a hammer of $24,000 in our 2017 NYINC auction (sale 3051, lot 30305).
