Abdul Hamid II gold 500 Qirsh (5 Pounds) AH 1293//1 (1876) MS62 NGC, Misr (Cairo) mint, KM286, Fr-17, Pere-973. An already scarce type to encounter and acquire, this exquisitely lustrous and radiantly brilliant issue exudes tremendous eye-appeal and is currently the finest graded by NGC. A light, golden-orange hue abounds throughout on this wondrous, near-choice specimen which, in the opinion of this cataloger, would appear to be conservatively graded. Comparable to a similar piece, an NGC MS61 which realized a hammer of $13,000 in our 2016 CICF auction (sale 3046, lot 29815). Truly, a premium quality piece worthy of considerable attention and focus.
