Victoria Proof Crown 1839 PR64+ NGC, Royal mint, KM741, S-3882. Plain edge. An impeccable selection that inspires awe from every angle, from its dramatic canvas of color to its technical precision. Struck upon the coronation of the Queen, the perfectly defined planchet features a mélange of hues ranging from iridescent gold and magenta, to heavier shades of teal and royal blue--all of which radiate a rich glow upon rotation and easily deter the eye away from the instance of a stray mark or tick. In addition to the tremendous amount of flash issued from the fields, the raised design elements deserve equal attention from the viewer. Presenting struck-up reliefs that show each intricate detail fully impressed and finished in a light matte-sheen that contrasts nicely with the surrounding brilliance. The "plus" accompaniment to the numerical grade solidifies the exceptional nature of this specimen, and will likely elevate collector interest, as few examples are currently certified finer by either NGC or PCGS.
