British India. East India Company - William IV gold Proof Restrike 2 Mohurs 1835-(c) PR61 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM452.1, Prid-3, S&W-1.4. A coin with a commanding presence, doused in rose-gold coloration and dressed with emblematic designs that are thoughtfully created and boldly produced. Unmistakable flash easily draws the eye full circle, and provides a back-light effect against the ever-so-subtle frosted images. As one would expect at this level, traces of handling are observed, as are isolated instances of coppery tone on both the obverse and reverse. A winsome showpiece that should easily surpass our low-estimate and one that will decidedly elevate its next collection.
