Papal States. Pius VI gold 10 Zecchini 1787 Anno XII AU53 NGC, Bologna mint, KM309, Fr-390, Berman-3012. Obv. St. Peter seated facing among the clouds, raising hand in benediction and holding scepter; coat-of-arms to lower left and right. Rev. Garnished coat-of-arms surmounted by papal tiara and keys crossed in saltire. A pleasing and overall charming example of this large, scarce gold type. Some minor handling is evident, along with lightly scattered hairlines and marks. A bit of muted luster peeks out from the more protected areas within the devices, and lends further appeal to this piece. A type not often encountered, the present example represents an excellent opportunity for the type collector or Papal aficionado in general. For completeness, a slight rim bump near the 'A' in 'MAX' is noted for completeness.
