Republic silver Specimen Essai "Caballito" 50 Centavos 1907 SP55 PCGS, Paris mint, KM-Pn175var. (Brilliant Proof/Raised Lettered Edge). By C. Pillet. A reflective proof of this iconic design, produced only in "essai" form for 50 centavos and thus a key type for collectors of the denomination. In hand, this example remains rather pleasing, with rich gray tone over both sides that transitions to deep navy-blue at the edges. A wisp of friction over the high-relief design elements is all that prevents the Mint State grade.
