Nicholas I of Russia gold 50 Zlotych 1829-FH AU55 NGC, Warsaw mint, KM-C119, Fr-109, Kop-2744, Bit-978 (R1). Featuring the laureate head of the previous tsar, Alexander I, this rare gold issue of Nicholas I boasts a paltry mintage of just 1,878 pieces. Following the Napoleonic Wars and the Congress of Vienna, the Kingdom of Poland was partitioned to Russia who then issued a series of coinage for the former. The present example features a fair number of scattered marks and hairlines, as well as a hint of wear on the highest points, but does still retain a good deal of luster. There is also a minor flan flaw located near the top, giving a slightly flattened nature to the edge. Nevertheless, a rare and important piece.
