João V gold 8 Escudos (Dobra or 12800 Reis) 1729 MS63 NGC, Lisbon mint, KM222.6, Fr-84, Gomes-133.06, without mintmark and rarer than it's Brazilian counterpart. Re-applied edge. Obv. Laureate bust of Joao V right. Rev. Crowned coat of arms in cartouche. Boldly struck, with brilliant greenish gold mint luster. A few light handling marks are noted, and these minor marks define the grade. An exceptional example of this conditionally rare one-year type and by far the nicest example we have seen.
