Elizabeth I "Scott" Rouble 1757 CПБ-ЯI AU58 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM-C19c.2 (these mintmaster letters unlisted), Dav-1679, Dia-429 (R1), Bit-280 (R1). An exceptional example of this popular small bust type---also referred to as the 'Scott rouble' based upon the obverse engraving done by Benjamin Scott. A transitional type, the reverse was engraved by Dassier. Scarcely encountered in an attractive state of preservation such as this, the present specimen is one of the finest known, and the highest certified by either service. Only the slightest hint of gentle handling and minor hairlines prevent a mint state designation, and a good deal of luster remains, enchanting the eye of the viewer. A light golden tone is present throughout, further augmenting its appeal. Wholly worthy of in-hand admiration and intensely focused bidding.
