Alexander I Novodel Portrait Pattern 2 Kopecks 1802-CПБ MS64 Brown PCGS, by Leberecht, St. Petersburg mint, Bit-H696 (R3), Brekke-81 (Extremely Rare), no ring between portrait and legend, plain edge. Obv. Bust of Alexander I with long neck right, CПБ mintmark below. Rev. Value and date within five concentric circles. Well struck for the issue, with mottled brown toning and surfaces displaying only light marks. An exceedingly rare Pattern issue with few examples extant. We can find no records since the 2005 Hesselgesser Collection, until Sincona's sale of the Soedermann Collection, in October of 2016, in which an AU example sold for $130,679. A major rarity and we can find records of only 3-4 pieces sold since the Tolstoy Collection sale in 1913.
