SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy. Ca. 415-405 BC. Æ hemilitron (4.22 gm). NGC XF 4/5 - 2/5, smoothing. Head of Arethusa left, wearing ampyx and sphendone adorned with star; behind, dolphin / Wheel with four spokes, dolphins in bottom two quarters. HGC 2, 1479. Calciati II, 20. SNG ANS 405. Very rare with this orientation of the inscription. Of beautiful late 5th century style, and with a fine greenish-brown patina.
