Basel. City silver Proof Medallic 4 Ducat 1769 PR63 NGC, KM-Unl., Fr-878. This medallic issue is usually struck in gold, and not silver. The obverse features a seated city goddess with a arms of Basel and cornucopia at her feat. The reverse displays a palm and laurel branch on a cubic altar. The weight is roughly 20.20g and a similar example sold in 2009 at UBS for 540 CHF. This medal has proof surfaces, and a dark bluish patina that is very reflective. A rare opportunity to acquire this scarce issue.
