St. Stephen, NB- St. Stephen's Bank $1 March 1, 1880 Ch. # 675-20-04-04 This small bank was established in 1836 and survived, albeit without any distinction whatever, until competition with larger banks did it in by 1910. All notes from this bank are very scarce, with many in the prohibitively rare category. PMG Fine 12 Net, with the much in demand vignette of a polar bear attacking hunters who are in a small (and quite exposed) boat. That vignette also appeared on a number of U.S. Obsoletes and the popular vignette landed the number 24 spot on the list of the 100 Greatest American Currency Notes. Some edge splits and tape residue account for the net grade. HID08701242017
