COLOMBIA. Banco Nacional. 100 Pesos. October 28, 1899. P-260. PMG Very Fine 20.
Most of the 1899 Banco Nacional types were overprinted on private "Banco" issues from several issuers. This lithographic issue is quite distinctive and reflects the emergency conditions that existed during this war period. Local imprint of Otto Schroeder along the bottom. Light brown tint and back with red BANCO NACIONAL overprint seal. Columbus landing vignette at the bottom center is adapted from American Toppan, Carpenter & Co. engraved notes and was later used on several Latin American types. Noted as punch hole cancelled and previously mounted. Some petty annotations concealed in back printing. Excellent grade for this 1899 note. PMG Very Fine 20.
