COLOMBIA. Banco Nacional - Overprinted on Banco Internacional. 50 Pesos. 1899. P-S648. PMG Very Fine 25.
The fourth and highest denomination 1899 Banco Nacional Provisional note, overprinted on an American Bank Note Co. printed Banco Internacional, Bogotá remainder note (P-S564). Large format and very impressive. Light orange and blue multi-color face tint with an orange back. Central globe flanked by cherubs vignette. Seated allegorical females left and The Calmady Children to the right (also used on American obsolete notes). Punch hole cancelled and previously mounted are noted. There are some mentioned splits, but the color and sharpness are outstanding from the face. A prize for high denomination note collectors. PMG Very Fine 25.
