COLOMBIA. Banco de Márquez. 1 Peso, 188_. P-S581p. Archival Record Book Face and Back Proofs. Uncirculated.
The Banco de Márquez five-note series is impressively engraved and colorful. The denominations increase gradually in size with a 100 Pesos crescendo that is a glorious type. Each note uses a portrait of Márquez. There were 50,000 notes of this lowest denomination authorized for printing in May 1882. Noted as series A-F and likely printed on six-subject sheets. Few issued notes exist to this day. Light brown face tint, deeper brown back. Both India paper impressions are choice on the mounted page. Uncirculated.
From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Paper Money.
Estimate: $500.00- $1000.00
