COLOMBIA. 1849 pattern 16 Pesos. Bogotá (i.e. Royal Mint, London?) mint. Silver. Restrepo-80. SP-64 (PCGS).
Plain edge. Beautifully frosted devices contrast with deeply mirrored fields. Lightly toned in pale gold, giving this piece an even but complex deep silver gray appearance. Both sides show some hairlines, but no marks at all are noted in the fields or on the devices. A natural planchet split is barely noticeable at the N of GRANADA. A magnificent Proof pattern by William Wyon, struck with the types of Bogotá. This variety is not illustrated in Restrepo.
